Care Philosophy

Here at the URI Speech and Hearing Center, we take pride in taking the time to fully evaluate each individual with hearing loss to formulate and execute a plan of care that involves the individual and his or her family.  Hearing loss affects many aspects of life ranging from occupational and social difficulties to emotional well-being.  There is no cookie-cutter response to hearing loss, and we approach each patient as a unique individual with different needs.  Hearing aids are a key tool for helping hearing loss, but are not the only solution.  There are many devices that can pair with hearing aids or stand alone that can be helpful for people with hearing loss including television listening devices and amplified or captioning telephones.  Our goal is to determine what options will work best for you.

Rachel Smith says...

We provided a broad range of hearing services to clients of all ages.  Our services are open to the general public.  We provide comprehensive hearing evaluations for adults as well as developmentally appropriate diagnostic audiologic evaluations for children and infants/toddlers over the age of 8 months.  Both of our clinics also provided complete hearing aid services including hearing aid evaluations, fittings, repairs and adjustments.
