Dr. Peryl Agishtein, PHD
Dr. Peryl Agishtein completed her PhD in clinical psychology at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Her interest in biology and in the puzzle of assessment led her to pursue a specialization in neuropsychology. During graduate school, Dr. Agishtein received training in neuropsychological and psychological evaluations among geriatric, adult, and pediatric populations at the Columbia University Department of Aging and Dementia, Rockland Center for Applied Psychology, South Beach Psychiatric Center, and Queens College Psychological Center. She completed postdoctoral neuropsychology training at Columbia University Medical Center's Department of Neurology. Dr. Agishtein was tapped to develop an Assessment Department at one of the biggest providers of mental health services in Rockland County, the Center for Applied Psychology at Bikur Cholim (CAPs). In this capacity, Dr. Agishtein founded and directed a new department devoted to comprehensive evaluation services. While at CAPs, she provided assessment services, trained and supervised psychology fellows in neuropsychology, and worked collaboratively with the Orthodox Jewish community to provide services in a helpful, time-efficient, and culturally-sensitive way. Dr. Agishtein and Dr. Cyrulnik were connected by their mutual mentor, Dr. Veronica Hinton of Columbia University, who thought that their shared intellectual interests and passion for compassionate care would make them good partners. They co-founded Lifespan Neuropsychology to provide effective, essential, and research-based evaluation services to the NY/ NJ community. In addition to co-founding Lifespan Neuropsychology, Dr. Agishtein currently provides evidence-based couples therapy, her second specialization, at the Center for Anxiety. She has also been conducting experimental research regarding attachment processes, everyday stress and anxiety, and religiosity.
