Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

I've been a licensed counselor in the New River valley for over 20 years. I specialize in helping people with marriage and relationship issues, parenting concerns, and communication problems.
I also work with people under stress–whether from chronic pain or illness, caregiving situations, difficult relationships, or work challenges.
In addition to my traditional "talk therapy" training, I have extensive training and experience in mind-body techniques such as breathing, acupressure, mindfulness meditation, and biofeedback, which can help the nervous system to self-regulate and make positive changes much easier.
Our sessions focus on you--how you feel, where you are in life, what you want to change, what you want to create.
We will look at the past, to whatever extent it is showing up and getting in the way, but we will always come back to the present, which is the moment where things can change.
I will encourage you to listen to yourself and to be willing to experiment with new behaviors and new ways of thinking. You will discover what works for you, and leave with the skills and tools you need to live the life you want.
