Nicole Holovach, MS, RD Registered Dietitian Nicole Holovach, MS, RD earned her Master of Science degree in Nutrition Communication from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. The following year, she completed her dietetic internship and supervised practice hours at Virginia Tech in Northern Virginia. In 2009, she continued her education through the Center for Mind-Body Medicine's Food as Medicine training. Nicole is also a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and their Dietitians in Integrative Functional Medicine Dietary Practice Group Nicole has a background in communication, research, obesity prevention, nutrition policy, and integrative health. She is passionate about food and enjoys researching and uncovering truths and misconceptions about health and human nutrition. She thinks food is medicine and appropriate nutrition can help just about any health condition. She works with patients on general wellness, weight loss, weight gain, cardiovascular disease, hyperlipidemia, pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and hypertension. Special interests include fertility, prenatal and maternal nutrition, irritable bowel syndrome, food allergies and sensitivities, and thyroid issues. Nicole owns a 33-acre farm and vineyard with her family. They're raising chickens for meat and eggs, growing wine grapes for local wineries, and planning to raise cows. A new mother, Nicole enjoys spending time with her newborn daughter and husband, cooking, gardening, wine-making, yoga, freelance writing, and social media. She was named one of "Six Local Nutrition Bloggers to Follow" by Washingtonian Magazine for her blog – www.wholehealthrd.com – and is often quoted as an expert on the magazine's Well Being blog.
