Dr. Nicole Hernandez, PHD
Dr. Hernandez received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of North Texas. She originally started working with victims of sexual assault during her clinical training and her interests transitioned to working with offenders. During her training, she worked with two psychologists in private practice doing both Forensic work as well as psychological testing with adults and children. Also, in 2013, Nikki completed her predoctoral internship at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center specializing in substance addiction and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Following this position, she returned to sex offending work by accepting a postdoctoral training position with Liberty Healthcare in the Sexually Violent Persons civil commitment program. In this position, she provided therapy in a team setting and conducted psychological assessments with offenders. In 2015, Dr. Hernandez opened her private practice, Macomb Mental Wellness. She is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Illinois, as well as an Illinois Licensed Sex Offender Treatment Provider and Illinois Licensed Sex Offender Evaluator. Nikki's research interests include psychopathy, personality disorders, and trauma informed care.

Individual psychotherapy for a variety of conditions is available for adults and children ages 12 and up. Additionally, group treatment for Domestic Violence Offenders is offered weekly at Macomb Mental Wellness. Finally, Macomb Mental Wellness now provides psychological testing for ages 10 and up. Testing includes academic, achievement, personality, attention, and adaptive functioning measures.
