One of the best doctors I have had the privilege to deal with. Very compassionate, explains things in detail, allows you to ask questions, and is there for you whenever needed.
in Ft Worth, TX |
I had a surgery done by a different doctor & it didn't seem to hold up well. When the original doc said he wanted a 2nd opinion for the next surgery, I was shocked that he sent me to someone so much younger, but I quickly figured out why, Downey KNOWS HIS STUFF & is great at explaining the surgery plan & what to expect. Downey did my "REDO" surgery & it has held up great,0 issues. He is very professional in his mannerisms & very thorough in aftercare. I've already highly recommend him to people!
in Cleburne, TX |
I became Dr. Downey's patient by referral for ankle surgery. I was also recovering from a prior bunion surgery that was not healing properly (different Dr). He knew immediately I would have need revision bunion surgery and ankle surgery. Tears began to flow. Dr. Downey handled a crying, depressed woman with grace, dignity, and assurance I would heal properly. Three months later, I'm walking and happy. Dr. Downey is an amazing doctor. I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation,

I had a terrible foot with pain all over from a bunion and other issues. Dr. Downey did a reconstruction on my foot and now my foot is like new. I wish I would not have waited so long to get this done but happy that I found him. He truly is Fort Worth’s best kept secret. I wouldn’t trust anybody else with my care.
in Aledo, TX |
Dr. Downey fused bones in my foot because I had bad arthritis. I was able to walk right after surgery and finally had relief that I had not experienced in years. He is the best surgeon I know and my wife and I couldn’t be happier with his bedside manner, his staff, and his skill set. - Tim G.

I have seen 7 specialists about my foot pain. Dr. Downey knew right away what was wrong with me, he gave me an injection and a special brace and i am 100% without needing surgery. I am fortunate I did not have to have surgery and wish I would have found him sooner. I have been dealing with this pain for over 5 years and finally found a confident doctor to take care of me. I would recommend him for anything that bothers you. He has such a calming soft presence and his bedside manner is amazing.
in Ft Worth, TX |
I had a large mass on my foot that caused so much pain. Dr. Downey removed this completely and was able to make my foot look normal again. The scar is not even noticeable. Dr. Downey is a great surgeon. I failed 2 other surgeries before seeing him. I should have went to him first.
Ft Worth, TX |
Dr. Downey saved my leg and subsequently my quality of life. I needed a major reconstruction surgery. It took a long time to recover but he was with me the whole way. I can now walk and function with very little issues. Whatever is needed he can take care of you. Some Ortho surgeons just wanted to cut my off without giving me a chance. He is the best and you can see that immediately.
in Burleson, TX |
Dr. Downey was the third doctor I had visited concerning surgery. Dr. Downey is very caring and extremely accurate and knowledgable. I highly recommend him. My surgery went very well and I believe I went to the best doctor out there! Sincerely, Mariann B

I have always been physically active, but I had grown bunions and hammertoes on both feet and my right foot toes were jammed together causing ulcers and pain. Dr Downey said I needed Forefoot Reconstruction. He explained the desired outcomes as well as the risks. His manner was calm, confident and candid. After surgery, he gave me his cell phone number and invited me to call anytime I had problems or questions. I am in the 8th week after surgery and doing well. I am happy to recommend Dr Downey.
in Ft Worth, TX |

I had terrible RA which has affected my feet. I was referred to by my Rheumatologist. From the first time he entered the room, I felt comfortable. He looked at me and said “you are hurting aren’t you” with such empathy. We discussed the surgery needed and the outcome for a long time. He explained to me that almost immediately after my surgery I would notice an improvement with pain. I can walk now without pain. Dr. Downey is such a blessing.

DR. DOWNEY IS AN EXCELLANT PODIATRIC SURGEON, HE IS (WAS) VERY METHODICAL IN HIS EXPLANATIONS OF MY X-RAYS AND OTHER MEDICAL EXAMS RELATED TO MY PROBLEM. PRIOR TO SURGERY HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT AFTER MY SURGERY I " WOULD HAVE NO PAIN",EVERYTHING THAT HE ASSURED ME OF HAPPENED VERBATIM. HIS AFTER SURGERY PROCEDURE MADE ME FEEL VERY CONFIDENT IN HIS RECOMMENDATIONS, , WHICH MADE MY RECOVERY MUCH EASIER AND QUICKER, AND TO THIS DAY 06/16/2017 I HAVE HAD NO PAIN SUEGERY DONE ON 04/05/2017.
in Ft Worth, TX |
Dr. Downey performed an Ankle Replacement on me.He explained to me "we are a team", I had several encounters w him & other surgeons in the area.I was hesitant, he encouraged me to get a 2nd opinion, which is unusual for a Dr. to encourage that, but I did & felt drawn to how amazing his bedside manner is, how humble he is, & how he listened to my every concern.I returned after my 2nd opinions & moved forward w the surgery.I'm now in my recovery & couldn’t be happier w my choice. He is the best!
Ft Worth, TX |
Dr. Downey is an incredible surgeon and an incredible person. I fractured my ankle several months ago. I was so nervous at first but he explained to me the reason that I needed surgery and what it was going to be like after. I have several screws and plates in my ankle but I am walking without any pain an couldn’t have been happier to trust such a fine doctor. I recommend him for any of your ankle needs.
Ft Worth, TX |
Dr. Downey is very knowledgeable about the procedure he prescribed for me, however I don't feel that he gave adequate consideration to the affect it would have on my preexisting condition. I have cerebral Palsy, admittedly fairly rare. My dominant left ankle is now fused and because of my CP I am having a very difficult time getting my weaker right side to compensate for the loss of mobility. Again, this is a rare case.
I am very sorry you are not 100 percent satisfied. I appreciate your feedback and take it very serious for not only your own outcome but for all of my patients. If you have time to schedule a visit in order to discuss this and any other concerns you have that would be great. Please call me anytime at 817.377.3668 to discuss this as well.
in Ft Worth, TX |
Outgoing, easy to talk to. Any surgery causes apprehension, but I felt in very good hands with Dr Downey.
Fort Worth, TX |
I came to Dr. Downey for a second opinion after I didn't trust my original doctor. Needless to say, Dr. Downey has well exceeded all my expectations. He thoughly evaluated my ankle issue and himself, expertly performed the required surgery. I'm recovering quickly and well even after what was a highly invasive procedure. Dr. Downey listens to your concerns, asnswers all questions knowledgeably and I hope others with any foot/ankle issues have the pleasure of seeing him.

Dr. Downey is the best kept secret in Podiatry in North Texas! He is a skilled diagnostician, an amazing surgeon, and is not afraid to collaborate with other specialists. My husband had not taken a pain-free step in 15 years and was unable to get the help he needed due to other health conditions. Dr. Downey listened to us, worked with our cardiologist and a very skilled venous specialist, and affected a surgical procedure that was both safe and successful. If you have "foot problems", see him!
in Fort Worth, Texas |
Dr. Downey, has been a tremendous Blessing to me and my husband David; who has been at my side at all visits. We both whole heartily agree, rarely in our long lives, have we been better served in our healthcare. Beginning with the surgery, Dr. Downey did an excellent job, executing my specific foot needs; making the entire surgery very pleasant. He has shown excellent medical knowledge on every visit. Most importantly, he brings kindness, empathy and compassion. He cares; and is our friend.

Dr Downey is an excellent podiatrist. He was very easy to talk to and quite professional. At my first appointment he examined my right foot and advised me of the procedure that was needed. Dr Downey also noted that I had a brace on my left foot (drop foot). He made arrangements to get me a new brace. I had corrective surgery for my right "hammer toe". End result in 9 weeks, my right foot is healed and my new brace works. Overall results for both of my feet are excellent, thanks to Dr Downey.
in Colleyville, TX |
From the moment I met him he truly tuned in and listened to me, exhausted every avenue prior to having to go to surgery and then made multiple calls after and during my convalescing to insure I was healing correctly. While I am not 100% back to former mobility he also told me realistic timeframe to expect. I am very happy with him and his offices and would highly recommend him to anyone with issues needing thorough time, attention and follow through.
in Ft Worth, TX |
Being someone who has never experienced foot issues before, I was quite uncertain as to what to expect from the doctor, the diagnosis, the surgery (if necessary), and any recovery. Dr. Downey was not only very professional, he very quickly eased my fears and anxiety. His professional, personable approach made me very comfortable and confident that I had chosen the correct doctor for this necessary procedure. If another foot issue arises, Dr. Downey will be the man I call.
in Ft Worth, TX |
Dr. Downey is most efficient and confident yet soft spoken and caring; he's the perfect embodiment of a Ft. Worth Texas doctor. I received top notch care and with four visits in the treatment of a concern find the accurate scheduling and short waits in reception area surprisingly short. Receptionists, nurses and the good doctor make a visit a downright pleasure. I highly praise this office and this doctor.
in Fort Worth, TX |
Dr. Downey, is one of the most caring, Kind & professional doctors, I know. I have had many experiences, professional & personal with many physicians throughout my life and I have to say, this has been one the most pleasant ones. He performed surgery on me in March and with the care I received before, during and after my surgery, has been over the top. He made every step throughout the process easy. I felt very confident and trustworthy of his care from day one! He is the best.
in Fort Worth, Texas |
Dr. Downey is a wonderful foot doctor, my foot was really hurting before I went to him, I was hopping, he treated my foot and now I am pain free, no more hopping around, if you need a good doctor, I recommend him, he is friendly and will get the job done.
in Ft Worth, TX |
For years I had excruciating pain in my right ankle due to a 37 year old injury which resulted in ankle fusion surgery. I was totally scared and worried about the outcome of this surgery. Dr. Downey explained the entire process to me so that I was much more relieved. Dr. Downey was also very confident about the procedure which made me feel more confident. The surgery went quite well and I healed much better than expected. I now walk with no virtually no limp and most importantly, I am pain free.
in Ft Worth, TX |
Dr Downey showed great sensitivity for the implications of his recommendations to this senior citizen. Surgery was ultimately the answer, but only after using other approaches. He demonstrated sincere concern and encouraged my wife to be part of the decision making process.
in Ft Worth, TX |
I would recommend Dr. Downey to everyone. He is a great doctor, explains everything and takes time to answer questions. He did my ankle surgery and it went very well. I can now walk again!
in Ft Worth, TX |
This was the first time I have seen Dr. Downey. After examining my ankle and taking x-rays, the doctor took the time to explain the entire process both pre surgery and post surgery. He answered all of my questions and by the time we scheduled surgery I was completely comfortable. My husband and I find him very personable and are very impressed with his knowledge and skill. My foot is back to normal. I would strongly recommend him as foot/ankle surgeon.
in Burleson, TX |
Dr. Downey was always very courteous and willing to answer any questions we asked. The surgery on my wife's ankle is healing very nicely. At rhe follow-up visits, he took xrays to determine how the healing was progressing. We would recommend Dr. Downey to anyone who needs ankle or foot surgery.
in Ft Worth, TX |
I was very impressed Michael's knowledge, expertise and personal approach to my care. He has an outstanding communication style, showed genuine concern throughout my operation and recovery, and took time and effort to explain everything he was doing and answering all my questions. In addition, the entire staff at the office was professional, friendly and very helpful. There is clearly a good vibe throughout the office which is a positive reflection of Michael and the other doctors.
Arlington, TX |
Dr. Downey is an exceptional doctor & surgeon. I broke my foot & it was displaced so he had to insert a plate & 5 screws. He explained the entire procedure & walked me through every step. All the docs in this office are excellent. I was new to Dr. Downey & was uneasy at first but he is a very down to earth doctor & you feel very comfortable talking to him. He makes you feel very comfortable with everything. Sometimes there is a wait but well worth it. Recommend this office to everyone.
in Ft Worth, TX |
I cannot say enough good things about Dr Downey. I was in horrible pain for about 2 months, I had been to two other doctors with no results. I finally couldn't take it any more and decided to see a specialist. I called and explained my situation and they got me in the same day!! Dr Downey was very nice and seemed very knowledgeable. It only took him a few minutes to figure out my problem and preformed a little procedure right there in the office and I am now a new man. Definitely recommend!
in Ft Worth, TX |
Three months ago, I fell and fractured my foot . From our first meeting Dr. Downey took the time to explain all my options, explain the surgery and answer all my questions . I had a few...He has a great bedside manner and excellent staff. I would recommend Dr. Downey to all my family and friends.
in Ft Worth, TX |
I was experiencing severe pain from an ingrown toenail. I was able to make an appointment the same day, even though my work schedule was such that I had to go the next morning. Dr. Downey conducted a thorough evaluation and then went over the went over the treatment options. The decision was to remove the entire nail. I have never been to podiatrist before, much less have a nail removed on a big toe. After numbing my toe, Dr. Downey fixed me up pain free! I will definitely see him again.
in Philadelphia, PA |
When I first met Dr. Downey I was comfortable with him automatically. When going to the office he is who I seen most of the time, I was ok with that. No one likes to go to the doctor so often, but if you have too you can only hope your doctor is humble, and he was much more. He spoke with confidence and always assured me that I would be ok. Before he left he made sure I had some lasting instructions, no message could have been any clearer. I wish him all the best of luck in Texas.
in Bensalem, PA |

Spent time to go over in detail the entire procedure and made me feel extra comfortable before, during, and after surgery.
