Megan Kostrubanic, MHC
I completed my Bachelors in Psychology from Purdue University and Masters in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Saint Francis. I am a National Certified Master Addiction Counselor. I have spent 15 years in the child welfare field working with families, children, and adolescents both in and out of the home. In 2013, I began working in private practice with both individuals and families along with conducting court ordered substance abuse groups. I was fortunate enough to be able to open my own private practice, Integrative Counseling Solutions, with a colleague in October, 2015. With both of our backgrounds and experiences, we are able to serve a wide variety of clients. My specialties include treatment of families, adults and children along with addictions and abuse/trauma. I have received training and certifications in treatments for trauma, attachment issues and addictions. Therapy is provided from a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive-behavioral, solution focused brief therapy, existential, and positive psychology. I like to take an integrative approach to mental health care, which is a novel way of seeing, understanding and treating challenges in life. It takes into consideration the whole person and includes all aspects and layers of life. How the mind, body and spirit are interconnected are explored with the client to clarify values and goals rather than focus on negative symptomology. I also enjoy the role of life and health/wellness coach. Perhaps you are going through a life transition or have a goal you would like to reach. Or would like to develop your personal or business life. Maybe you are searching for your true purpose or meaning. I can help. Life coaching presents you with new ways of seeing things, accountability and encouragement. We will explore your core strengths and how to better utilize those to reach your full potential. Together, we set measurable goals to track your progress each step along your journey. One of the benefits of life coaching is that it is flexible. It can be conducted via online sessions or over the phone in addition to face-to-face sessions.

Megan Kostrubanic's Care Philosophy

The decision to seek counseling is the first step in a journey towards wellness. I do not see clients as damaged or flawed, and do not define unwanted experiences as "symptoms" or "problems". Each challenge is viewed as an opportunity for growth and change. For if we were never uncomfortable, there would never be the need to change. Therefore, we would never grow as a person. In discomfort there is purpose and potential. The purpose of counseling, in my approach, is to define the function and context of behavior in order to determine its "workability" in your life. In other words: "how is what you are currently doing working for you?". In order to do this, we will not focus on negatives and the past. The past certainly influences a person and gives context to behavior. However, it does not define a person or point the direction to go. Together, we will explore personal values in order to create an "action plan" to guide a balanced, rich, meaningful and purpose-driven life. Additionally, each client's individual character strengths will be identified and built upon so you won't just live, but thrive! If you feel that you are in a pretty good place in life but there is a gap between where you are now and where you really want to be, then there is room for a bit of life coaching. Life coaches focus on the present and the client's goals for the future. Life coaching can help you move forward and set personal and professional goals that will give you the life and career you really want. Most coaching clients are healthy, successful people who might be a bit stuck or simply want to make a big change in their lives and want the support of a coach to do so.
