Maggie Davis, MS, RDN, LDN, FADA, FAND is the founder and director of Live Nutrition Inc in Brewster, MA. She has been in practice for 30 years on Cape Cod. Maggie has a passion for helping her patients and clients live healthier lives through better nutrition. She is described by her patients and clients as a competent and caring professional who gets to know them as individuals, gives them the tools to make necessary changes, and who motivates them to do their best. Maggie is an Advanced Practice Nutritionist/Dietitian as well as a Fellow of the American Dietetic Association and a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition to her clinical work at Live Nutrition, Maggie is an author, and a consultant to companies developing food products and conducting nutrition research. Maggie was an early adopter of technology in Dietetics. She has been using computers in her practice for over 30 years. In 1975 she helped to develop the first computerized nutrient data base used in this country at Case Western Reserve University. She continues to utilize technology in her practice, using a "high tech, high touch" approach. Maggie especially enjoys sharing her expertise with Dietetic Interns and Nutrition colleagues. As a natural educator and motivator, Maggie is a frequent speaker at Professional Conferences as well as for Community Groups. She has presented educational programs to the South Eastern Massachusetts Dietetic Association, the Massachusetts Consultant Dietitian in Health Care Facilities, and the Annual Meeting of the Clinical Managers Dietetic Practice Group in Charleston, South Carolina. She has presented programs for the annual meeting of the American Dietetic Association Annual Meeting in Anaheim – California, Kansas City – Missouri, LA – California and a workshop in Chicago, IL. In March 2010, Maggie presented 2 workshops at the Los Angeles Convention Center for the LA Congress. She was also the Keynote Speaker for a recent Maryland Dietetic Association Annual Meeting. Maggie is known to her friends and colleagues as a gourmet cook, but she is equally adept at teaching her clients how to order in a restaurant or prepare quick meals in the microwave. Maggie and her husband, Steve, are avid gardeners. They compost daily, grow vegetables, a wide variety of herbs, and flowers for their table. Maggie loves to travel, kayak, cross-country ski, and snowshoe. She also enjoys walking on the Cape Cod Rail Trail or across the countryside in Europe, or using the treadmill when the weather is less than kind. She considers her knitting a part of her meditation and reading as a minimum daily requirement.
