For 20 years I have worked with children and youth who are trying to make sense of their world, and the adults that support them. They are often confused, frightened, angry or sad. I believe the parent/child relationship can be the source of healing. I work with families to resolve confusion, address underlying fears and cultivate the supportive, trusting and loving relationship that both need. With youth transitioning into adulthood, I work to strengthen their ability to deal with anxiety and depression when facing a demanding and complicated world. Understanding the effects of traumatic experiences on the developing brain has helped parents increase compassion, and clients increase self-compassion. I bring this perspective into my work, with all ages, along with a variety of modalities for resolving the hurt caused by traumatic experiences. EMDR, art therapy, play therapy, CBT, DBT and family therapy are some of the techniques I use in my practice, as well as providing parent education. I respect each adult and child's individual situation and experience, and work with my clients to find the approach that works best for them.
