Care Philosophy

Dr Sargent focuses on healing by restoring function through natural methods for conditions like auto-immune, hormone imbalances, Irritable Bowel and digestive issues, weight control. Dr. Kris describes the difference between traditional medicine and functional medicine like this: Medical doctors ask, 'Are you sick yet? If you are, I have drugs and surgery. If you aren't, I can't help you.' While in functional medicine the question is, 'What do we need to do to prevent you from ever getting sick?' Dr. Kris says there is a place for traditional medicine and that her practice has a different approach for different timing. "I am not a medical foe. I know medical doctors are necessary. But chronic diseases don't happen overnight or develop spur of the moment. It all happens over time. From my wellness perspective, I want to prevent the onset of illness."Read more

This person - is not a REAL doctor. Its one of the gimicky offices where they expect you pay $300 up front for your visit. If your insurance doesn't cover this business - its not a real doctor by any means, unfortunately. Make sure you ask questions. I asked up front if Kristina was a real doctor and Jody at the front desk assured me she was - but when my insurance told me up front they wouldn't cover my visit - the girl told me she is not a real doctor.
I am not sure by what you mean, that I am not a real doctor. I am licensed by the state of Illinois as a chiropractic physician, DC. In this state, we have all the rights of an MD or DO, except for performing surgery or prescribing medications. Most of the patients calling us are looking for answers other than medications and that is what I provide. Our initial visit is 150.00. We are BCBS providers and every plan is different. Some of our care is covered, depending on your plan.

Dr. Sargent says...

Dr Sargent has practiced Functional Medicine for 25 years.  Longer than most of her colleagues because she was there, at the beginning of Functional Medicine as a specialty. She has seen thousands of patients with hundreds of scenarios and conditions.

Dr. Kris's process involves hearing the patients story, gathering a health history from birth to present, running a full blood work up, and presenting a 20-page report outlining exactly what's going on with different functionalities of the body. She creates a wellness plan and anticipates spending six months to one year as treatment plans evolve, patients grow, and health increases.
