Katie is a devoted practitioner who is fully committed to understanding your individual needs and goals for the treatment. During the new patient consultation Katie will learn about your health history, your efforts to get well, and your health concerns. The consultation is finished with a discussion of treatment options and creating a profoundly specific treatment plan and protocol wholly particularized and unique to you.
Katie is a Licensed Acupuncturist Physician (LAc) and a graduate of Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine (ATOM) in Fort Lauderdale, FL where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Health Science and a Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelors Degree in International Business. Katie began her career in health and wellness as a Classical Pilates Instructor, inspired by her passion for body biomechanics and movement patterns. While enjoying the rapport she developed with her clients as an instructor, she sought a deeper understanding of self-discipline and healing, principles that are exemplary of the philosophy of Chinese medicine. As Chinese medical philosophy is built on mindfulness, strength, authenticity and staying true to one's spirit in the midst of change, Katie believed that her clients would benefit from a more comprehensive wellness program and therefore attended ATOM. While treating the full spectrum of diseases and pathologies through traditional Chinese healing methods, Katie specializes in weight management, women's health, musculoskeletal disorders and chronic pain management. She believes a great health professional must master both Western and Eastern medical philosophies and sciences and therefore deeply believes in and applies an integrative approach to create a unique regimen for each patient. The objective is to help the patient achieve the best bio-pschyo-social-spiritual form of him or herself. You can expect that she'll utilize herbal medicine and acupuncture therapies in addition to dietary therapy and mind-body exercises to provide the most well-rounded, individualized program for each patient. By applying her knowledge of western anatomy and pathology to help build a treatment regimen interlaced with the ancient Chinese modalities, Katie blends the two worlds of medicine to mitigate symptoms.
