My approach is flexible and practical. I work with clients to identify major issues & treatment goals. Clients are given access to reliable psycho-educational materials to enable them to advocate for themselves & others. We work together to develop effective coping skills, & cultivate social/environmental supports (e.g., linkage to support groups, strengthening community/family ties). My final goal is to help clients to rediscover their innate ability to resolve issues and manage symptoms independently. I am adept at integrating psychotherapy with addiction treatment programs. I also work with children/adults with AD/HD, & other diagnoses to educate them about underlying physiological causes, manage medication & other lifestyle changes, navigate educational/healthcare systems, & combat stigma. My international experience includes 14 years in Japan and 3 years in Peru. My diverse background enables me to distinguish personal and mental health issues from cultural & societal ones.
