At Natural Healthcare Center, our goal is to help you feel better, function better, and live longer.
Whether you are experiencing pain due to an acute injury or are suffering from the effects of such chronic conditions as obesity, diabetes, or high blood pressure, we offer a range of services that safely and expertly restore and revitalize your health—often without the need for surgery or medications.
Founded in 2003 by Dr. James Proodian, a chiropractic physician and health educator, NHC advocates functional medicine—a practice that takes an integrative, personalized approach by addressing your physical, nutritional, and psychological needs. We take the time to uncover the root causes of your condition, not just manage your symptoms.
While most patients first come to NHC due to pain—headaches, neck pain & stiffness, for example—you will quickly find that we are here to support your whole wellness, helping you not only recover but also get ahead of illness.
Dr. James Proodian is an accomplished chiropractic physician and health educator whose passion for helping people achieve better health led him to establish Proodian Healthcare Family of Companies, which includes Natural Healthcare Center (a state-of-the-art healthcare facility); Wellness at Work (health and wellness education programs for businesses and organizations); and Put Back What You Lack (a web-based store that provides pharmaceutical-grade supplements). Dr. Proodian earned a Doctorate of Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College and a B.S. in Public Health from Southern Connecticut State University, where he minored in nutrition and completed the pre-medicine program. His post-graduate work includes a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) degree from the National College of Chiropractic in 1994 and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) degree from the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2003. He is also certified in the Cox Technic system of decompression spinal pain management. Dr. Proodian's expertise for the past two decades has been in the area of physical rehabilitation, and he has successfully established himself as a spinal specialist. Many leading medical doctors in the fields of orthopedics, interventional pain management, and neurosurgery utilize his practice for nonsurgical therapy in the treatment of spinal and extremity pain. In his work, Dr. Proodian advocates the science of functional medicine, which takes an integrative approach to treating patients by addressing their physical, nutritional, and psychological needs. A patient-centered practitioner, he is known to spend quality time with his patients, learning their unique health histories and identifying underlying clinical imbalances. While Dr. Proodian loves the one-on-one interaction with his patients, he is alarmed by the escalation of complex, chronic illness in the United States, with its unsustainable economic and human cost. Through Natural Healthcare Center's Community Relations Program, Dr. Proodian offers health education programs to local businesses and organizations in Monmouth County on such topics as stress management, detoxification, ergonomics, and nutrition. A dynamic, engaging speaker, Dr. Proodian clears up confusion about current health issues and offers practical steps people can take immediately to improve their health. In 2008, Dr. Proodian was recognized by NJBIZ with the "Healthcare Hero" award for providing this free service. In 2014, Dr. Proodian was selected as the Health Educator for the city of Long Branch's CityWell program, which was created to help municipal employees adopt healthier lifestyles and reduce healthcare costs for the city. Dr. Proodian is leading the effort by screening all employees and creating individualized programs. Dr. Proodian is also addressing the healthcare crisis on a national level. Through his company Wellness at Work, he delivers powerful seminars across the country focused on identifying the problems in today's healthcare system and rendering tangible solutions that not only impact the financial side but also offer significant, measurable improvements by helping people lead healthier and longer lives. He also works as a consultant for companies to help them establish or increase participation in wellness programs. He lives in Red Bank with his wife, Stacy, and five children.
