Erik Rostamian, MSW
I possess a unique professional background for a therapist. I was a corporate executive for 20 years, most of which was spent designing comprehensive education programs for the PreK-12 market. As national accounts manager for the largest provider of educational materials nationwide, I had the unique opportunity to work closely with large nonprofit organizations such as Save the Children; high profile philanthropic celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey; and major corporations such as Wal-Mart and Target; all of whom were dedicated to helping disadvantaged populations. It was in this role that I developed a passion for assisting those in need of specialized help, and decided to dedicate my future career to this end. I am currently working as a therapist with offices in Downers Grove and Glen Ellyn, IL. My practice has enabled me to provide specialized counseling and therapeutic assistance to a diversity of clients. This is inclusive of men and women, adolescents and teens, the elderly, couples, and families. Additionally, I have led counseling groups for anxiety and depression. I have assisted individuals with presenting problems ranging from chronic depression, GAD, panic, social anxiety, OCD, bipolar, grief, and addictions. I have also worked with individuals on the autistic spectrum and LGBTQ clients.

Erik Rostamian's Care Philosophy

My counseling approach is designed to help you live more consciously and creatively in today's challenging times. In working with clients, I place an emphasis on strengths and solutions rather than problems and pathology. My greatest passion is helping clients uncover their own innate knowledge and insights in promoting their power to heal themselves and live more meaningful lives. However, I firmly believe that it is the alliance between client and therapist which is the most vital consideration leading to positive client change. I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities when working with clients. These are inclusive of, but not limited to, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, solutions focused therapy, and motivational interviewing.

It is also my firm belief that all people possess the innate knowledge and wisdom needed for emotional healing, contentment, and a life well lived. True happiness and the ability to lead a meaningful life are accessible to everyone. It is a gift we are all capable of giving ourselves.

This can be illustrated by a remarkable thing that  is often observed among terminally ill people. Those with little time left to live frequently report, paradoxically, that they have never felt more alive than at any other time in their lives. What is truly important and meaningful is suddenly revealed. It is as if a veil is lifted from their inner selves and self-awareness is the result. The message is that this inner wisdom is already in all of us.  It is my passion to help clients achieve this through the therapeutic alliance
