Anxiety has increased over the past 30-40 years. That puts about 23 million Americans who are suffering from anxiety-related problems. Children and Teenagers are also increasingly showing signs of Anxiety problems. School performance, social challenges, identity concerns, and Screen Time (i.e. Social Media, Video Games, TV, Texting) are just a few examples. Additionally, the Digital Era is upon us and our youth is struggling to find themselves. Dr. Alcalay specializes in these modern issues as The Anxiety Explosion and Parenting in the Digital Era, are just some of his areas of research. In addition he conducted two rounds of clinical research on the effectiveness of group play on social skills development and behavioral concerns. Dr. Edan M. Alcalay is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in children, adolescents, and trauma. He utilizes current evidence based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy to help children and teens reach their potential. During his clinical training at Miami Children's Hospital, Dr. Alcalay provided psychotherapy to suicidal traumatized children. He also conjointly conducted research on adolescents and their parents. This research study, Teaching Responsible Behaviors to Adolescents (TRBA), was published and presented at the American Psychological Association Conference in 2010. He also presented at the Transitions Conference in 2015. Dr. Alcalay is an associate professor at Lynn University teaching graduate course work to psychology students. He is also the education coordinator chair and board member for Florida Psychological Association (FPA), a member of United Way of Broward, Association of Play Therapy (APT), and American Psychological Association (APA)
