Our practice is an independent private practice that contracts with most insurance companies and medical groups, including NorthBay and Sutter. We strive to offer quality care based on what is best for the patient and cost effective. We do not practice corporate medicine.
Dwayne Highsmith, DPM is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is an active staff member of NorthBay Medical Center and VacaValley Hospital. Dr. Highsmith is a podiatric consultant for the Medical Board of California, the California Board of Podiatric Medicine and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
After attending Washington State University, Dr. Highsmith received his doctorate degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine. In 1987, he completed a two-year surgical residency, and in 1989, Dr. Highsmith became board certified in foot and ankle surgery.
During Dr. Highsmith's career, he has been active in podiatric training and evaluation. He has served as a clinical associate professor at Pacific Coast Hospital, and on the credentialing committee for the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS). He has traveled the United States as an on-site surgical residency evaluator for the Council on Podiatric Medicine/Joint Residency Review Committee, and for 16 years, Dr. Highsmith served on the Examination Commission and Expert Panel for the California Board of Podiatric Medicine. In addition, he has been a Qualified Medical Evaluator for the State of California for 20 years.
Dr. Highsmith specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of the foot and ankle, including foot and ankle deformities. His expertise emphasizes medical and surgical treatment and lifestyle management in order achieve the best results for his patients.
