Care Philosophy

Caring for the whole person, not just the symptoms.

Biography

While growing up in New Jersey, majoring in the sciences at Ramapo College of New Jersey, attaining a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa, completing her residency program in Wisconsin, volunteering chiropractic services in Morocco, attaining her certification in Pediatrics, graduating with international certification for large & small animal chiropractic (IVCA graduate), becoming a certified medical examiner for FMCSA; Dr. Huntsinger has always been fascinated with the sciences and even more so with the inner workings of the body and its systems. "Everything is connected within, the body as a whole is a bunch of intra-related systems dependent on each other to keep the body up and running in homeostasis (balance). So naturally, if something is not working in rhythm with the rest of the body, then the body won't work properly as a whole." Plus, Chiropractic is a safe and drug-free way to attain better health. That is why chiropractic makes perfect sense to Dr. Huntsinger as a great and proven cost effective way for achieving and maintaining your health. "I feel fine, so why should I see a chiropractor?" or "I only get pain when I do this …" or "The pain is only for a couple of days and then it goes away…" or the dreaded "I've had it for years and I just thought it was normal…" says the average everyday go-er, meanwhile doctors of chiropractic gasps in disbelief someone could live this way! These are statements common among people that are mis-informed or aren't familiar with the preventative benefits that chiropractic care can offer for one's health. Research now shows what many happy chiropractic patients have been experiencing for years…that is… that chiropractic adjustments of the spine leads to improved performance and decreased deterioration.  Typically, most people don't follow preventative guidelines recommended by doctors, for example, when was the last time you flossed your teeth, performed a prostate/breast examination, had your cholesterol tested, or had a spinal screening…have you ever? Surprising, some people can actually say never to all of the above! Usually, most people wait till their body's sends out warning signals (pain & other unwanted symptoms) that something is out of balance within, before seeking help to correct the problem. This is becoming even more common now, especially with the rising costs of healthcare and lack of coverage. Worse yet, some people may even choose to avoid seeking help all together and just wait it out; thinking it will go away on its own. This waiting game usually becomes a downward spiral, because the underlying problem often continues to goes uncorrected, allowing symptoms to linger and many times become worse, harder and/or more expensive to treat. Sometimes people wait till their symptoms are so unbearable that they are unable to participate in common activities of daily living. This pattern of behavior should be avoided because it is destructive and allows for the onset of more permanent and chronic degenerative changes…a.k.a. arthritis. The real importance of chiropractic care is to make sure that these systems within the body are communicating openly and fluently, by a nervous system that is free from interference and fixations. The body is wonderful at adaptation, but STRESS (thoughts, traumas, toxins) can and often do overpower the body which leads to Vertebral Subluxation Complexes..aka... "misalignments."  When the body is stressed, it makes sense that you become more prone to illness and disease. Obviously you should not wait till you have a major breakdown.  Dr. Huntsinger realizes that Chiropractic is not a cure for everything, and will refer out when deemed medically necessary, but a "subluxation-free" body having strength / flexibility & energy can lead to a healthier, happier life!
