Dr. Carter is a licensed psychologist who has been in private practice in Winter Park, FL since 1997. He works with adults in both individual and couples psychotherapy. Over the years Dr. Carter has helped individual clients work through an array of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, trauma, and stress related issues. He has helped couples work through numerous issues including separation, divorce, conflict, infidelities, and disconnection. In his work in both individual and couples psychotherapy Dr. Carter primarily draws from the principles of cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic theories. In addition to his individual and couples psychotherapy, Dr. Carter works on maximizing elite level performance with athletes, performers, and other demanding professions, including business and company leaders, attorneys, and physicians.
Dr. Carter received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the Florida Institute of Technology and his undergraduate degree from Rollins College. Dr. Carter has published research in sport psychology and has taught as an adjunct professor at Rollins College. He is an alumni member of the Association of Tennis Professionals, and a member of the American Psychological Association.
