Craig D. Weiss, Ph.D. has been working with children, adults, couples and families for over 30 years. He treats children from preschool through adolescents, and families of divorce, blended families and those of same-sex marriages and relationships. Couples and adult individuals are also a specialty. Issues may include anxiety, depression, behavior disorders, school problems, social skills problems, and various types of family problems. Craig specializes in treating trauma and assessing ADD/ADHD as well as childhood bi-polar disorder (Currently known as Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder). Work with children involves a combination of child centered therapeutic play, mind-body awareness, and cognitive-behavioral techniques to help children make better sense of their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. With this understanding, children can make healthier choices, have more positive experiences with family, and feel better about themselves. With Dr. Weiss, children and adolescents are empathically listened to and treated as real people, not just someone who may be causing a problem. Work with adults involves talk and cognitive therapies along with mind-body treatments that tap into the unconscious (or "non-thinking") areas of the brain that contain long-held but unresolved upsets and traumas, both significant (life-threatening experiences) and more common place upsets anxieties, such as difficult childhoods. Craig has performed over a thousand forensic evaluations and has been an expert witness in courts in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, California and Virginia. Forensic work involves civil and domestic litigation and he has been a child custody evaluator throughout Southeast Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He also performs Social Security Disability Evaluations, primarily with the most difficult cases that require an in-depth comprehensive psychological report. Recognizing our adversarial litigation system often does more harm than good in matters of child custody and divorce, Dr. Weiss is proud to be a Divorce Coach and member of the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, the Bucks County Collaborative Law Group and the Montgomery and Philadelphia County Collaborative Law Groups. He is also available to perform Divorce Coaching services for New Jersey Collaborative Law Groups. Craig was a keynote speaker for the Pennsylvania Bar Association Division of Collaborative Law and presented at the International Association of Collaborative Professionals annual Forum in Washington D.C. Dr. Weiss has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and has been licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and California. For ten years he was Chief of Psychology at Saint Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. Previously, he was a partner at Barrington Psychiatric Center in Los Angeles. During his undergraduate years at Hahnemann Medical School of Allied Health he interned at the Franklin Institute Research Laboratory Center for Preschool Studies. Graduate school internships in the Los Angeles area included California State Diagnostic School for Neurologically Handicapped Children, Glendale Family Services and the Barrington Psychiatric Center, where he learned and developed his forensic expertise.
