I have two primary specialities: sex and relationship concerns; and individual cognitive-behavioral and in-depth, psychodynamically-oriented psychotherapy.
I have been a practicing Licensed Psychologist for 28 years. I am a Certified Diplomate in Sex Therapy through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, and through the American Board of Sexology. I served as Clinical & Research Associate at Masters & Johnson Insititute for five years where I conducted much of my sex and relationship training and work directly with William Masters.
I have two Ph.D.s, the first in Clinical Psychology (from USC), and the second in Psychology-Jungian Studies (Saybrook University). For this second degree I studied under James Hollis, Ph.D., an expert in the dynamics of individual dynamics and couples relationships. I attended a training program in cognitive-behavioral therapy at the Albert Ellis Institute, I have appeared on national radio and television, and I am a published author of articles, a book chapter, and (coming this year) a book on the topics of sexuality and relationships.
I have trained under four of the best-known experts in the fields of sex, relationship, and individual therapy. As a sex and relationship psychologist, and following my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, I trained and worked for five years under William Masters, M.D., who pioneered the entire field of sex therapy. I also trained and worked during those years under Virginia Johnson, D.Sc., who, together with Dr. Masters and Emily Mudd, Ph.D., spearheaded combining sex and relationship therapy. While getting my second Ph.D. (Psychology-Jungian Studies), my dissertation chair was James Hollis, Ph.D., who is an expert on, and has published extensively about, the depth dynamics of couples relationships, and on the recovery of individual, personal authority. With regard to individual psychotherapy, in addition to studying under Dr. Hollis, I also have been trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy by one of the founders of the field, Albert Ellis, Ph.D. I have appeared on national radio and television speaking on matters of sex and couples therapy, I regularly present workshops on sex and (coming soon) the integration of sexual and relationship therapy. I am a published author of articles, a book chapter, and a book on the foundations of sex therapy (coming this year), and a book on sex and relationships (coming soon).

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

Want to improve your sexual relationship? Your couples relationship? Your relationship with yourself? As an AASECT-certified and Masters & Johnson-trained sex and relationship therapist, and as a depth oriented psychologist, I can help with intensive sex and couples therapy, cognitive behavioral treatment, and extensive individual, psychodynamically-oriented psychotherapy. My therapeutic specialties are: sexual dysfunctions, disorders, and enhancement; couples and relationship issues; cognitive-behavioral therapy; and depth-oriented, individual psychotherapy for concerns of identity, meaning, and self-development.
We cherish our relationships with both others and with ourselves but we have so little guidance about effectively living and communicating within them. This is unfortunate when there are simple approaches that can transform a sexual relationship into a truly intimate one, a couples relationship into a truly cooperative & affectionate one, and a relationship with yourself into a deeply meaningful and lifelong adventure.
I have been a Licensed Psychologist for 28 years. I am a Certified Diplomate in Sexual Therapy, American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists, and formerly served as Clinical & Research Associate at Masters & Johnson Insititute for five years. I have two Ph.D.s, the first in Clinical Psychology (from USC), and the second in Psychology-Jungian Studies (Saybrook University). I attended a training program in cognitive-behavioral therapy at the Albert Ellis Institute, and I am a published author of articles, a book chapter, and (coming this year) a book on the topics of sexuality and relationships.
With more than three decades of training, research, and clinical experience in sex, relationship, and cognitive-behavior therapy, and over a decade of training and experience in depth psychotherapy, I offer a unique and time-tested combination of intensive and analytic approaches to sexual, relationship, and meaning-of-life concerns.
I usually begin with an intensive therapeutic orientation to whatever concern is presented (whether it be sexual, relational, or individual), suggesting the most efficient and effective short-term approach. Often, this is all that is necessary. However, if the client needs or wants to explore additional issues in greater depth, we shift to a more detailed, comprehensive, and dynamic approach to therapy. We focus on concerns of meaning, self-identity, and the recovery of personal authority in one's life.
