Dr. Harper says..

Active Lifestyles Physical Therapy now offers ASTYM®A treatment provided in conjunction with a specific physical therapy approach that has been proven effective for quick return to your activity or sport.

What is ASTYM® and how does it work?

ASTYM® is a therapy approach that addresses problems such as scarring, fibrosis and degeneration that occur in soft tissues.  These problems may develop as the result of trauma, surgery or overuse.  ASTYM® is effective for new injuries as well as chronic, nagging conditions.  ASTYM® treatment uses instruments along the surface of the skin to locate these problem areas and start the body's healing process.  As the body heals, exercise and activity help guide the healing that allows you to return to activities without pain and limitation.  The success of ASTYM® is documented for a wide variety of diagnoses and many times it helps patients where other treatments have failed.

Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.

Dr. Harper says...

After graduating BouvéCollege of Health Science Physical Therapy program at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts in 1993, Christopher Harper worked as a staff physical therapist at a service oriented private outpatient orthopedic practice until 1997. With a love for the outdoors and a desire to explore different regions of the United States, Chris became a contract traveling physical therapist and served a wide variety of patients in multiple states including Washington, New Jersey and the Carolinas. In 1999 Chris chose to establish roots in Salt Lake City, Utah and managed multiple clinics for a large corporation. This continued for more than a decade while Chris also developed the Jordan Applied Technology Center's Physical Therapy Careers program, established in 2001. This nationally recognized professional advocacy program served to allow high school seniors to observe with physical therapists while learning core skills and knowledge related to working in the health care arena. Chris also serves as a member of the medical advisory board for KT Tape as well as being featured in online instructional videos and is considered a world renown expert on the applications of kinesiology taping.

While continuing to teach, treat, and advise, Chris attended the University of Utah and obtained his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and a Board Certification in Orthopedics shortly thereafter. Due to his expertise, Chris has been selected to develop an international institute with the goal of training clinicians in the evidence-based use of kinesiology taping as an adjunctive modality. With his attention to detail and ability to tailor rehabilitative activities to the individual, Dr. Harper also contributes to the assessment and resolution of orthopedic barriers with the top-ranked fitness and weight loss retreat in the United States.

Chris has had the principle of quality patient care and education as a core of his practice throughout his career and chose to lead a practice in southeast Salt Lake Valley in 2012 to better serve his patients.  With over twenty years of experience and remaining current with the latest evidence, Chris helps his patients achieve optimal outcomes and continue to participate in the activities they love.

Chris Harper and his staff (Jake & Kelsey) are a great team of professionals.  Chris is passionate about his profession and very knowledgeable.  He kept me going for several months waiting for neck fusion surgery.  He was always honest and upfront with me, and made it possible for me to continue working and function pretty normally.  I always felt like Chris, Jake, and Kelsey truly cared about me, and they never once made me feel like they didn't have adequate time for me that day.  I am truly grateful for their help and care, and most of all, I trust them completely for any future needs I may have.
