I provide speech-language therapy in a child's home or school setting. By working at home, I can use personally motivating materials and activities to teach new skills. I can consult with parents about what their child is learning and how and what she/he needs to practice. Parents play a key role in helping their child use new skills in their everyday speech.
At school, I can add speech/language sessions to a child's school day. We can use specific classroom materials which help a student use new skills in classroom activities.
In both settings, it is important that children understand that it is their efforts as well as those of their parents and teacher which will help them be successful and "graduate" from their speech therapy program.
