Amanda Scanlon, LCPC
I co-founded Hinsdale Therapy Group in 2003 with the goal of creating a high-quality, therapist-owned and -operated counseling practice. Our team is carefully assembled, with therapists specializing in each age range and phase of life. Additionally, HTG supports a model where clients can easily come and go as life unfolds and challenges arise. People often talk about how healthy they are, but not about how mentally healthy they are. However, emotional and relationship challenges are as much a part of life as are any physical health struggles. At HTG, we believe that everyone can benefit from therapy at different times in their lives. Many people feel embarrassed by emotional, mental, or relationship struggles. Rather than thinking of mental health struggles as this dark thing that only some people experience, we believe in recognizing that each of us is on a continuum of mental health, which varies between people and across an individual's lifetime.

Amanda Scanlon's Care Philosophy

I see clients facing a variety of issues from heightened anxiety, depression, and ADHD to communication and social/relationship issues. Whenever possible, I incorporate family members into the treatment process. While I have a unique specialty with young children and families, I also enjoys working with individual adults and couples. I use developmental, systems and cognitive-behavioral perspectives. This combination helps me truly identify each clients' needs. Once our goals are set-my job is to accomplish them in the shortest, most action oriented way, in a supportive environment. In most cases, we start out by identifying the troublesome behavioral and/or emotional issues. We would then design a tailored, age appropriate treatment plan and start working. A huge factor in our success is working as a team. I provide parents and family members with hands-on problem resolution and coaching. They need to put it into practice in the day-to-day.

I really liked her right from the start. She came highly recommended from a close friend. We have seen her as a family unit and my kids have also seen her individually.
