I was supposed to have a surgery performed by Dr. Purtill the following day but when I called the office to confirm the day before they told me that my insurance was not covering the cost. I became very upset that the office never called me within the 1.5 months to tell me that my insurance would not pay for it. The staff that I spoke to stated that I can still have the procedure done but I would have to pay for it out of pocket. Dr. Purtill is a good doctor but his staff is not professional.
The office works very hard to obtain authorizations for all procedures. Insurance companies especially do not like to authorize varicose vein procedures. Peer to peer reviews with the insurance company Doctors and written appeals are done for all denials. This process can take 2-3 months and rarely up to 6 months. Once we receive an answer we do our best to keep the patient informed. Unfortunately not all procedures get authorized even with this amount of due diligence.

Dr. Purtill treated the varicose veins in both my legs over a 5 month period. He explained the procedures thoroughly and made me feel at ease. During the procedures he made sure that I endured as little pain as possible and would tell me exactly what he was doing every step. He made sure that I was okay to go home after. Follow-ups were through and he made sure I was healing properly. He has a great disposition and is very personable. His office staff is very personable as well.

The kindest, most approachable & caring surgeon I have met in a long time. He took ample time with me to allay my fears, spent an inordinate amount of time following through on my test results, and called me personally to deliver the good test results. The quality of this human being shines through in all he does. I felt cared for & the entire staff was just as professional. I can't recommend Dr, Purtill more emphatically! Wonderful!
