Dr. O'Connor Jr's bio
This content was provided by Dr. O'Connor Jr "Born in Northeastern Ohio, I was raised on a farm where I learned being a good neighbor can turn out to be a life-saving proposition. In High School, I designed the school crest, was voted the wittiest, and scored the highest in the state of Ohio's Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test in biology, afterwards, joining the Air Force to become an Advanced Electronic Sensor System's technician and achieving the highest ranking as a student leader before ending up in Vietnam in time to participate in the spring offensive of 1972 in Da Nang. After the war, I acquired a double major with honors in Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology and English literature at the University of Colorado where I received the Van Eck award for academic achievement and community service with sufficient credentials to be accepted to five medical schools but chose the Univ. of Cincinnati College of Medicine because it promised the best education in clinical medical skills. There, in my spare time, I became expert enough in Nuclear Power issues to be instrumental in closing the Zimmer Nuclear Power plant, the last nuclear energy generating facility to be constructed in the United States, of course, no plaque was placed acknowledging the people who kept the Ohio valley from becoming a Chernobyl or Fukushima. I acquired an excellent broad based practical education doing a residency through the Univ. of Calif. Davis (where, later, for 10 years I was an assistant clinical professor) at the San Joaquin County hospital. After residency, I took a position as the medical director of the Vacaville Community Clinic and for 16 years served the indigent and poor of Northern Solano County so well that when the National Institutes of Health surveyed all the community clinics in the country mine was found to have taken care of more Medicare and Medicaid patients for the lowest costs of any in the nation; so they placed the first managed medicaid plan here because they figured it couldn't fail. However, when the reimbursements went to a capitated rate of 13 dollars per patient per month, the clinic could not economically survive and went bankrupt--proving no good deed goes unpunished. So,I went into private practice where to this date I have maintained an office. "
