Meehan III, MD is a sports medicine physician in the Sports Medicine Division and the director of research for the Brain Injury Center at Boston Children's Hospital. He is also the director of the Micheli Center for Sports Injury Prevention and an assistant professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Meehan specializes in concussion management, traumatic brain injuries, and a variety of sports medicine injuries. He sees patients in Boston and Waltham. Dr. Meehan conducts both clinical and scientific research in the area of sports injuries and concussive brain injury. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Football League, and the Center for the Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. He serves on the Section on Emergency Medicine for the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Advisory Board of the Sports Legacy Institute, and on the Advisory Committee for Sports Head Injuries for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health. He is the team physician for the Northeastern University Men's Ice Hockey Team. Dr. Meehan is sole author of the book, Kids, Sports, and Concussion: A Guide for Coaches and Parents."
