During my residency training I noted that pain was a common denominator and complaint that crossed multiple diagnoses from musculoskeletal back and neck pain to spinal cord and traumatic brain injury to amputation. That pain was often associated with functional decline and a decrease in quality of life. I wanted to help patients attain their highest and most productive functional level and to enjoy a full and productive life.
