As a doctor I believe that heart disease should be found early, before any damage is done to the heart. I believe in aggressive reduction of all risk factors--lowering blood pressure, cholesterol values, maintaining an appropriate weight and smoking cessation. As a doctor, I don't like surprises--I like to know what is going on with my patient and I believe in a complete physical evaluation not just a cardiac workup. There are many non cardiac problems that can cause cardiac symptoms.
