DR Akhtar did a stress test at Wayne Memorial Hospital on my friend, he called the test and was told he needed a card cath. Akhtar was debating about putting him in the hospital one minute then said he needed to have it done the next day Thursday. I tried all afternoon to confirm a time with his office with no luck. Thursday around 11:00 I got a call from the offices stating it would be fine for him to wait until Tuesday to do the test. I took him to Wake Med and Monday he had a 5 vain Bypass!
Dr Akhtar seemed arrogant and condescending, unwilling to listen to patient and jumping to conclusions without referring back to patients cardiac and other health conditions charted history. Removing other health conditions highly needed medications and putting patient in danger of complications without consulting primary Doctor before removal of such medications. Dr Akhtar needs to improve his bedside/clinical manner when dealing with cardiac patients with complicated medical histories.

Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.
