Dr. Vincent C. Traynelis, MD

Neurosurgery | Male | 60 years old

It's always been my philosophy to explain everything that I believe the patient should know to the patient, so that when we finish there are very few questions because I've given them the information that they want. I go over all of the X-rays and scans with them in detail, and explain them. And I will always answer any question. So despite this comprehensive information exchange, I will answer every question they have. If they have a hundred questions, we will answer a hundred questions. And the advantage, I think, is that they understand exactly, as best as possible, what is wrong with them and what their options are. We communicate both the published outcomes to the patient, as well as I will inform them of what my specific outcomes are. And this helps empower them to make the decision. And for many of the things that we choose to do, the outcomes are excellent. And that helps calm fears, and allows them to enter the surgery with a very positive attitude.Read more

Dr Traynelis has now performed 3 surgeries on me degenerating spine. He and his staff are the best. He worked me into his very full schedule as soon as he read my MRI report. I recommend to anyone who says they need a great neurosurgeon.
in Joliet, IL |
Expert microsurgery performed by Doc. to remove somewhat large bone spur on my 3rd neck vertebrae, insert bank bone & metal spacers. Sew me up. done Jan.15 2016- 0830 am. Walking again, a little wobbly, w/cane right hand, nurse hold my left. Bed in room to doorway & return- 30+ feet. Same before bedtime - but walk into bathroom, stand at sink brush teeth, wash face, in bed- 40 + feet. BTW - spur was inside between windpipe and spine, size of small kids marble.

Doctor and professor Vincent Traynelis rebuilt my broken neck in 2001 while in University of Iowa, he became a friend and excellent nerosergen. Reconstruction of C-3,C-4,C-5,C-6,C-7,C-8. ToOK bone from my right hip and a titanium Plate with screws holding the plate together. 15 years later I still have pain and not much range of motion but I can walk and use my left hand and leg as it pearlized my left side, with rehabilitation and therhighly recommend him.pain management and the right pain meds

Why Does Experience Matter?

Even specialists specialize. One orthopedic surgeon might do nothing but hip surgeries, while another does nothing but knees. If you want the best possible care, it’s critical to match your medical need with the doctor who truly specializes in treating it.
