What People Say About Dr. Vikram Nayar, MD

Shortly after arriving in DC for my first job, I had an intracranial hemorrhage due to an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) rupture. I had no idea I even had an AVM, and having a stroke at age 22 was, needless to say, unexpected and life-altering. Dr. Nayar put my mind at ease about having open brain surgery. Though I'd hoped for a less invasive procedure, he explained in detail why the surgery was the absolute best, safest option for me. Today, I am cured for life and SO THANKFUL for his care.

I am sure that Dr. Nayar is an excellent neurosurgeon when it comes to brain aneurysms. However, he did not appear to be knowledgeable when it comes to spine conditions. He did not understand that lateral impingement of the L4 nerve root, which lies above the L5 is common cause for L5 nerve root irritation and pain. This is basic neuropathophysiology of the spine. I came to Dr. Nayar for a second opinion on getting a fusion, but would not recommend him for spine patients.

Dr. Nayar performed two separate surgeries on me in May of 2015 for brain aneurysms . I had three on left side and one on right side that he repaired and with the Lords help ultimately saving my life. Dr. Nayar was very reassuring and knowledgeable in every aspect of my life threatening problem . I was petrified at the thought , but , he kept reassuring me and ultimately lifting my spirits and even during my recovery time was excellent at taming that fear . He has my eternal gratitude .
