Dr. Luna was born and raised in Panama City, Panama. He started his medical education in Costa Rica and Panama before moving to the United States. He completed his internship and residency at LSU-UMC, Lafayette, LA, where he served as Chief Resident there until 2002. He then completed his fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of South Florida Medical Center in Tampa in 2004. Dr. Luna dedicated his first 5 years of practice working in medically underserved areas in the Southeast where he collaborated in the development of Diabetes Self-Management programs and Endocrinology treatment protocols. He relocated to Southwest Florida in 2010. A second generation endocrinologist, Dr. Luna has deep appreciation and is passionate about many areas in his field. He has a particular interest in intensive diabetes management, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, obesity and the use of technology to deliver better patient care.
