Dr. Venkat Ganapathy is a a board certified Orthopedic surgeon and currently works as an assistant professor and acting director of Orthopedic Spine Surgery in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. He specializes in complex spine surgery. He is expertly trained with two spinal surgery fellowships – Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center, University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada and London Health Sciences Center, University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Prior to that, he worked as an emergency medicine physician and surgical assistant in orthopedics as well as a rural family physician in Windsor, Nova Scotia, Canada. Dr. Ganapathy is also Canadian board certified both in orthopedic surgery and in family medicine. He specializes in the management spinal deformity, degenerative, traumatic and oncological conditions of the spine and offers patient centered care. He has research interests in spinal deformity, spinal degeneration as well as in medical education.Dr. Ganapathy is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society (NASS), Canadian Orthopedic Association (COA), American Orthopedic Association Emerging Leaders (AOA) and AOSpine.
