Dr. Umesh Patel, MD FACC has an international background and multi-cultural upbringing in a medical family, which has allowed him to have a unique perspective on how to relate to and interact with his patients to deliver exceptional care, as outlined in Who's Who in the World 2015.

He completed college in London, England, and earned a medical degree from the University of London in 1979, followed by five years of post-graduate education in England, with a further five years of residency and fellowship at Tulane University Medical School Department of Medicine.

Having successfully obtained four Board Certifications in different specialties, he commenced practicing cardiology in 1989 and has been instrumental in the development of cardiology services on the Northshore area of Greater New Orleans.

Since 2003 his primary practice has been located at the Louisiana Heart Hospital campus on Hwy 434 / Interstate 12, where he has held many leadership positions, including Founding Member, Governing Board Member, Medical Director, Chairman of the Departments of Internal Medicine & Cardiology, etc. He has developed and implemented multiple clinic and hospital protocols that have reduced errors while increasing patient safety and satisfaction.

He enjoys diagnosing patients' problems and tailoring treatment plans to their individual needs, with a strong emphasis on preventative care to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations. As a testimony to his rich educational and cultural background, he is open to patients using complementary medical approaches in conjunction with traditional Western science based medical practice.

We have special expertise in diagnosing a patient's problem and applying a combination of personalized attention and medical knowledge to helping patients understand their condition(s) better and participate in their treatment.
