Dr. Welch grew up in Connecticut and attended medical school at the University of Connecticut. He completed his orthopedic surgery training at Boston University. In Boston, he developed advanced skills in orthopaedic trauma, joint reconstruction, arthroscopy, and general orthopaedics. Dr. Welch then completed the renowned sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles. Kerlan Jobe offers its fellows advanced training in shoulder, knee, and hip arthroscopy, as well as extended college and pro team sports coverage. Dr. Welch moved back to New England following his fellowship and joined Atlantic Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine
