Care Philosophy

This content was provided by Dr. Shaver "I have been asked many times if I always knew I wanted to be a surgeon, and I always say "Ever since my third grade teacher suggested I could be one." Since then, I have tried to be the best surgeon I could be. The most important thing a surgeon can do is have the technical ability and experience to face any issue that comes up in the operating room. My training has prepared me for this and I continue to add to my knowledge and skills through lifelong learning through reading, conferences and hands-on teaching. I truly enjoy taking care of patients and believe there is no better place to work than in the operating room. I enjoy time with my family whether at home, traveling, attending high school football games, Nationals baseball games or high school rugby matches. I am extremely proud of my wife and my three sons and have always tried to balance my professional life with my family life. "
