We know your vision is important. That is why Dr. Conrad personally examines every patient. Dr. Conrad is a trained and nationally recognized ophthalmologist; this means during even a routine eye exam everything about your eye is being examined by one of the best medical doctors in Louisville. Though optometrists are qualified to prescribe glasses and contacts and even treat some disorders of the eye, an ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who can prescribe contacts and glasses, diagnose and treat all conditions of the eye, prescribe medications, and perform surgery on the eye.
Dr. Conrad is a double board certified ophthalmologist who practices in Louisville and New Albany. Dr. Conrad was grew up in Palmyra, Indiana, and attended Purdue University where he received a degree in Chemical Engineering. After Purdue, he worked from Marathon Oil Company where he did mathematical modelling of engineering processes for four years. He then matriculated at Duke University of School of Medicine receiving his M.D. in 1991. At Duke, he published original research on the Corneal Neovascularization and was named a Scholar in Pathology. After Duke, Dr. Conrad completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then completed a Residency of Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville. At the end of the Residency, Dr. Conrad stayed on to study Pediatric Ophthalmology. In 1995, Dr. Conrad founded Conrad Eye Centers to provide comprehensive ophthalmology services to the community.
