Dr. Wascher's bio

This content was provided by Dr. Wascher "Dr. Wascher is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in the care and management of patients with brain tumors, vascular diseases of the brain, and conditions involving the cervical spine and base of the skull. His training and 23 years of experience in the neurosurgical field give him the training and expertise necessary to manage even the most complex neurosurgical conditions involving the brain and cervical spine. Dr. Wascher has the distinction of graduating #1 in his high school, college and medical school classes. After completing medical school, residency, and the rigorous training of a neurosurgical fellowship, he opened his neurosurgical practice in 1992. He has since performed over 1,800 cervical fusions and 500 brain tumor surgeries. He was responsible for introducing stereotactic radiosurgery—a form of surgery that doesn't use a scalpel—to Appleton, Wisconsin. Dr. Wascher continues to apply his surgical expertise to the treatment of brain tumors, vascular brain disorders, and conditions involving the cervical spinal cord to help patients achieve a better quality of life. He prides himself on educating patients and involving them and their families in the decision-making process. He treats his patients as individuals, giving them the respect and compassion they deserve. Dr. Wascher's surgical results speak for themselves. Over the years, he has diligently collected and documented the outcome of the surgeries he has performed and makes this information publicly available. His complication rate of less than 1% for cervical fusion surgeries is well below the national average, and his survival rate for brain tumor surgery is three times higher than the national average. Because of this exemplary record, patients travel from other states and around the world to benefit from his expertise and experience. Dr. Wascher has been recognized in the Guide to America's Top Surgeons since 2007 and the Best Doctors in America since 2000. He has received more than 30 awards for social and academic excellence and has authored multiple books and articles in the field of neurosurgery. He maintains an active affiliation with Fox Valley Brain Tumor Coalition and the Fox Valley Brain Tumor Support Group. Dr. Wascher combines his years of neurosurgical experience with a strong dedication to the surgical profession for the benefit of his patients.
