DO NOT DO A HIP REPLACEMENT AT UCSF!! I had a surgery done in 2016 and have had nothing but problems with it. UCSF uses a very invasive, posterior approach for hip replacements. I cannot say enough about Dr. Vail. For years I was in pain and after my partial knee replacement, I was up and walking within a couple of hours (not unusual as they want you to do this) but my pain has never been above a 2 on a scale of 10.
