Excellent Doctor
Atlanta, GA |
I went to Dr. Stern to discuss my issues with insomnia. He recommended that I get off sleep medications, I was taking Ambien at the time, because of the short and long term risks. I appreciated his honesty and encouragement to help me with my sleep problems in a healthy way. I took his recommendations and changed my daily habits, like cutting out caffeine and alcohol and exercising. Finally sleeping through the night again! Thanks Dr. Stern!

An excellent medical specialist in his field; well informed with medical advancements and with exceptional medical knowledge and its application for medical care. Compassionate and caring. A true gentleman. Would recommend him to friends, family, colleagues and anyone who inquires for a good pulmonary, sleep disorder & Critical Care Specialist

I would definitely recommend Dr. Stern to family and friends. He is so qualified and competent. After using other physicians who were unable to successfully manage asthma, my daughter has not had an asthma attack in years.

Dr. Stern is one of the top in his area. Not only is he knowledgeable in his practice but he is ethical. His advice has helped me understand my sleep issues.

I found Dr. Stern to be professional and extremely helpful in helping assist with my sleep problems. I never realized all the factors involved in what causes sleep problems, and he considered all the issues that would help my sleep improve. A lot of doctors want to prescribe medication and push you out the door, but I didn't want to find myself reliant on a prescription to sleep. I really appreciated his thoroughness and would highly recommend him to anyone who wants real answers and help.

Do not waste your money. I was horrified at the terrible level of care received. I was told: - anxiety was the cause of my insomnia (zero tests had been done) - after informing him I was on medications for sleep and anxiety, he said I'd never get better from either problem if I stayed on medication. I did not see any psychiatry degree in his wall. - stop all meds, lay in bed for 7 hrs/day, do "psychology meditations" if I couldn't sleep - prescribed the book "How to Cure Insomnia" from amazon.
If you are looking for chronic prescriptions to treat insomnia I am not the person you want to see. Chronic sedative hypnotic use has been associated with an increased risk of death, motor vehicle accidents and dementia. I believe the approach to insomnia should be to identify and treat the underlying cause. I do not treat psychiatric disorders but will be glad to refer to a psychiatrist if necessary.
