Ottawa, IL |
I had a great experience with Dr Mcgivney, right up to the point after my surgery when I was still in pain. After the procedure didn't work, he treated me like the plague. Several visits over the next year, which equaled about 10min face time with him, he said "well, good luck"! Needless to say I'm still in pain, jobless, and over 10k poorer! Hope he enjoys his new boat I bought him.

I did go to other back surgeons, but chose Dr. McGivney because he actually listens and is a straight talker. I also love the office staff and nurses, they are wonderful!
in Oswego, IL |
Came in late. Very rude and uncaring. Didn't really listen to what I had to say. Made his own conclusion before I was finished with my symptoms.
in Naperville, IL |
DO NOT GO TO HIM. As others have said, Ashley (his assistant/nurse/whatever) is extremely rude. However, one of the other assistants and the xray tech are very nice. But not worth going back to. The whole office smells bad. Dr. McGivney is very rude and insensitive. He was 30 minutes late and I could hear him being unprofessional in the hallway when he should've been in the room with me. During the appointment he changed his opinion on what was wrong multiple times. I do not trust him.

I've read other comments regarding Dr McGivney. So I'm clearing things up. I'm 51 was in pain for months. This Dr took time to find problem walk me through why other methods wouldn't work. He explained procedure Answered all my questions He made me feel safe He was amazing. Surgery went great. No lingering problems , that can occure I would refer him to everyone. My husband liked his no nonsense approach Hope this helps anyone facing surgery

Staff seems overworked and unfriendly! Medical records, Ashley is so rude and makes you feel downgraded. This is unexceptable to patient care. Patients should feel comfortable going to a doctors office, not treated poorly by staff. NEVER will refer patients here EVER again! Doctor was friendly but seemed rushed during the visit. Its really sad to see where our medical future is leading to.

Mr husband had back surgery to ease pinched nerves. He walked on for the surgery and 14 months later had to have the same procedure done again by another doctor. I would look for a second opinion before going into surgery.
