The finest physician we’ve ever dealt with. My husband has been a patient of Dr. D’Amico for 10 years. Dr. D’Amico was able to perform a VATS lobectomy when every other surgeon wanted to open up his ribcage due to the tricky location of the lesion. While my husband was in the hospital for his lung surgery, he met another doctor from Louisiana that had come all the way to Duke specifically to have Doctor D’Amico do his surgery. Dr D’Amico has also referred us to other top specialusts.

He spent very little time with me and did not answer my questions. His mind was somewhere else. I would not rely on him to help you make an important medical decision. I did and now I’m stage 4 instead of 2. Horrible doctor.

He is not a cancer surgeon although he acts as if he is. He knows nothing about cancer. His best quality is teaching and surgery. He would be better suited to be a butcher where he did not have to talk with humans. He can’t carry on a conversation or discussion. He talks ...you listen. I do not trust him, he has lied to me. He is not the caliber doctor you would expect to find at Duke.

performed an esophagectomy on me for esophageal cancer. I was a relatively healthy 46 year old prior to this diagnosis and surgery. The surgery went well but once the complications began to appear - Dr D'Amico and his staff left me for dead. To this day, I am sure that he has no idea if I am alive or dead. I was told that I would be out of work for 6-8 weeks. I finally made it back to work 1-1/2 yr later. I'm headed back (not to him) for another surgery to correct another complication.

The best Doctor I have ever met. So Caring... So smart and well knowledged. He has become a friend to my entire family because that is what he thinks about this patients. He removed my right upper lobe of my lung in 2003 and I still go yearly from Az to NC for my checkup as they are the only Doctors that I trust. He is always just a email or phone call away.
