My research focuses on improving the mechanistic understanding of neuropathic pain. Over the past 14 years I have served in multiple leadership and educational capacities at Duke and in the region including: Duke Pain Medicine fellowship director (2000-2002); Duke Pain Clinic co-medical director (2001-2002); president of Carolina Pain Consultants 2006-2010; board of directors of the North Carolina Society of Interventional Pain Physicians (2006-2007); board of directors of The Pain Society of the Carolinas (2010 - present); pain medicine question author for the American Board of Anesthesiology; and pain medicine committee member American Society of Anesthesiologists.
