Amalfitano is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University and State University of New York at Stony Brook Medical School, where he stayed on and completed his orthopaedic residency his last year as Chief Orthopaedic Resident. Dr. Amalfitano's specialty practice includes fracture treatment, hip, knee, foot, ankle and shoulder problems, sports medicine, and arthritis requiring joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee. Dr. Amalfitano works for the Washington Nationals major league baseball team caring for the team's players in Hagerstown and each spring at the National's spring training facility in Viera, Florida. He has also been team physician for the Hagerstown Community College basketball team."
