MAY be technically proficient, but is arrogant bordering on rudeness. He once the surgery is finished. so is he, it seems. Does not seem to care about his patients a human beings. You can do better.

Arrogant, little concern for the patient, I had complications after a major surgery which he chose to handle by telling me that Orthopedics had nothing more to offer. I was left with a "drop foot" which has compromised my life enormously. (A drop foot results from damage to the 5th Lumbar nerve, in my case on the left) I cannot walk properly and never will, without additional surgery. He could care less. The MOI staff and his assistant could not have been better in both pre-op and post-op care.

Very arrogant and abrupt. Doesn’t care about you as a patient, just going through the motions. Asked me very simple questions that I had to repeat to threee different people. Never looked T my chart, asked me why I had a previous surgery (really). Sent me in my way withoufht helping at all. Avoid this Dr. !!

People skills are beyond horrendous! Egotistical, arrogant and completely dismissive. Definitely should have chosen a different path than being a caregiver!

I recently saw Dr. Choma after the surgeon I originally started with no longer be in the area when I was able to have my surgery. The original doctor seemed fine with doing a fusion of my 3rd and 4th lumbar which had me a bit concerned about the recovery process and time. After meeting with DR Choma he did not recommend fusion but a much reduced surgery of decompression around the nerve which was good to hear. Only 4 stars because I haven't had surgery yet. He is straight forward.

Went to see Dr. Choma for neck issues, was told I needed surgery set it up and when I came to my lower back had been fused, I had a flank cut and a posterior cut, my 12th rib was removed, my diaphragm had been cut and my abdominal muscles used to repair it, Dr. Choma refused to even see me while I was in ICU, instead the attorney for the University of Missouri was the only to tell me what happened and how Dr. Choma was very unprofessional. Dr. Choma refused to ever see me again. DO NOT USE!!!!!

After a bad car wreck I went to Dr. Choma. After dealing with other surgeons in the area his level of care, attitude, and people skills are above average and not the norm if you have ever dealt with other surgeons. He took his time answering my questions and those of my family. His level of care was exceptional before my surgery during and after. He never seemed rushed in any of our visits and took his time.

While Dr Choma has an impressive resume, his people skills are horrendous. I had an acdf that had failed to fuse, so I returned to moi, my original surgeon had moved away and I ended up with Dr Choma. The consultation appt was done mostly by his resident, then he came in, sat up on the table, crossed his arms and talked at me. Surgery was scheduled, he told me I would be in overnight, I actually ended up being in 3 days, of which I saw him once for 5 minutes. He is not a nice man to deal with.

I did my homework before going to see him for my second opinion. He was very straightforward and spent an above average amount of time with me answering all my questions.
