I’m really surprised to see so many “good” reviews? I’m 40 and this is the first clinician I’ve ever seen who I genuinely felt unsafe in their care. From our first appt, he had his mind made up about me… told me I could literally never take a certain kind of mediation ever (never had an issue with this) and was incredibly patronizing in the way he would talk to me. In like a 15 minute intake, he gave me a diagnosis that my long-time PCP and therapist both completely disregarded. He kept changing my meds when I told him I wasn’t comfortable with it, he told me “this new one will mess your stomach up”, so when I started having digestive issues I assumed it was from the meds- 3 months later I’m in the hospital diagnosed with IBD (was totally healthy before!) and Hospital MD suggested that this SSRI triggered this. I then went to a new Psych who is willing to spend way more time who was flabbergasted by Patel’s jumping to diagnoses and conclusions and his recklessness.

I've never left a doctor's appointment feeling so invalidated and discouraged. I did not feel like he was listening at all. He made me distrust psychiatrists and have struggled to reach out for help from another provider because I'm afraid this experience may happen again.

He by far was the worst Dr. I have ever spoken with. First made me wait 20 minutes because he said my insurance wasn't the right kind. After I called to confirm he was on my insurance list he took me but he said he wasn't a geriatric Dr. He then prescribed a med which I said made me very very tired and he told me if I wouldn't take it He did not want to see me again. I left feeling VERY discouraged.

When I first looked into getting treatment I didn't know if this was the right course of action. I didn't have a full understanding of why I was so anxious of why my emotions were so out of control all the time. I normalized a lot of my feelings. On my first visit Dr. Patel was wonderful, super patient and understanding of what I was saying even when I wasn't sure what I was trying to say myself. He explained every thing to me and make me feel like I wasn't crazy. I am super grateful of Dr. Patel and his front office staff. They helped me so much.

Promptly helps with issues and takes the time to discuss anything presently happening in your life. Overall one of the more positive experiences I've had with Psychiatric Care.

I am writing this AFTER my appointment this morning because I wasn't certain what my experience was. I found this. Dr. Patel is very mellow and very, politely, consistent, and persistent. (I tend to keep everything off course. Dr. Patel made several observations that I considered a bit... strong... for only a few visits, and limited exposure. However both observations were correct (but no one likes one who touches sore spots). In the firsts meeting he also made an incisive comment on my "social" drinking problem that made do an instant pivot from having a social problem to having a control of alcohol problem. So far he has been straight with me, even though we have bumped heads, but it has been to my advantage in getting in control of myself. I appreciate that straightness delivered in a quiet manner, and keeping me on track during the session. I recommend him highly, but listen to him and give him some time, and the benefit of any doubt.

He sat and listened to what what going on and what I needed help with. I was worried about being put on medication and he took that into consideration and put me on a low dose to start with and slowly but surely I started to feel better.
