Board certification should be one of your top considerations when choosing a doctor. Board certification is an official recognition given to doctors who have met specific requirements set by national medical specialty boards in the United States.
Board certification indicates that a doctor is highly qualified in the medical field in which he or she practices. A board-certified doctor is more likely than a non-board-certified doctor to have the most current skills and knowledge about how to treat your medical condition.
I had excellent training in the late 90s at the University of Virginia and Mayo Clinic. I have since been in practice in an academic center for over 15 years, dedicating myself to the care of patients with neuromuscular diseases.
I perform EMG studies also, as appropriate. EMG is short for electromyography, which is a diagnostic study of peripheral nerves and muscles, comprised of nerve conduction studies and a needle examination. We pride ourselves on providing gentle EMG studies.
