Dr. Shahbandar is a fellowship-trained specialist in Interventional Pain Medicine and is a board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He was born in Michigan and raised in Wisconsin. He attended the Medical College of Wisconsin and then completed residency and fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. At the Cleveland Clinic, he was privileged to train under some of the world's pioneers in Pain Medicine. Thereafter, Dr. Shahbandar has practiced Interventional Pain Medicine for eleven years. His experiences include private practice and academic medicine. He recently spent three years training physicians at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In addition, when practicing interventional pain medicine, Dr. Shahbandar has been well known for his kind bedside manner and excellent procedural skills. One of his goals when treating patients is to alleviate pain while minimizing the use of controlled substances. His specific fields of interest include complex regional pain syndrome and spine.
