I have been listed in Best Doctors in America since 2009 and I am licensed to practice in the states of North Carolina California and Michigan. I am the program director of Duke's vitreoretinal surgery fellowship. I graduated valedictorian from medical school. I am a member of AAO ARVO ASRS the Retina Society and the U.S. Masters Swimming Association. I received the Edward K. Isbey Jr. M.D. Award for Excellence in Clinical Care Ethics and Research; the Retina Research Foundation award from ARVO; the Senior Honor Award from ASRS; the Robert Machemer Award from Duke Eye Center; and the Distinguished Teacher of the Year Award from the Kresge Eye Institute. I serve on the national Therapeutic Safety Committee for monitoring of drugs and devices. In 2012 I founded the North Carolina Retina Club to encourage collaboration between retina specialists throughout the state.
