Exceptional Surgeon
After an ER doctor accidentally found a tumor deep inside my brain, they referred me to Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic. Thankfully the tumor was benign and slow growing. Due to the location of the brain tumor, I was referred to Dr. Takanori Fukushima who is a world renowned brain surgeon and teacher specializing in many different types of brain tumors. Given his knowledge and years of experience, I was positive and very confident Dr. Fukushima was the only surgeon to remove the tumor. He is very kind and caring and healing his patients is a priority. I will always be grateful to Dr. Fukushima and the talented doctors and staff at Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic.

Trigeminal Neuralgia Surgery
In 2020 and 2021,Dr. Fukushima and Dr. Kaith Khoury performed two skull-based surgeries, microvascular decompression on both sides of my face to treat my trigeminal neuralgia. Dr. Fukushima at Raleigh Neurosurgical Clinic came highly recommended by neurologists in the Raleigh NC area. Even though I had a previous unsuccessful surgery in Charlotte, NC, Dr Fukushima was confident that he could correct the issue. Both Dr. Fukushima and Dr. Khoury, and their team were absolutely great! They ensured I understood and was comfortable at each step of the entire process. The first surgery was successful and the pain on my right side was no longer. A month later after I weened off my meds, I realized I had the same pain on the left side of my face. Nine months later Dr. Fukushima and Dr. Khoury performed another surgery on the left side, which was also successful. I am now pain free for the first time in over 20 years! Both of these surgeons are extremely gifted and a Godsend.

Excellent neurosurgeon especially if you have the rare disease - Trigeminal Neuralgia. He did MVD (cranial surgery) 2/19/2021 I had no complications. I woke up icu with pain gone. No pain so far, 6 months later. His nurse Lori was excellent with setting up the surgery I was pleased with his office staff. I travel from SC to get an experience neurosurgeon. He has done over 2,800 of this surgery. I hope that I will be able to see him again for the same surgery on the opposite side in 6 months.

Dr. Fukushima saved our daughter’s life! She had a huge brain tumor in a difficult location. 15 years later, she has a big job at a top tech company, has a child, and is doing great in every respect.

He operated on my sister, Katherine Renn, and possibly saved her life. Both she and I were impressed with him on the first visit. We both felt like he was the best. We had gone to Duke first, but we decided we did NOT want interns to help with surgery. Dr. Fukushima was the ONLY one who would be operating on my sister. We are very happy that he was the one who did her surgery. She has done extremely well over the years since the surgery. I believe it has now been 10 years since her surgery.

Dr. Fukushima did my surgery 8 years ago and preserved my hearing. His precision is the best in the world. Trust me I researched surgeons. I am still debatable about his pain management after surgery but that could be because it is brain surgery. Not sure if that or his Japanese culture or the surgery itself. Yes, it was very painful at the hospital, it went away a week later. I do suffer from migraines even after surgery. Having another surgery with BAHA placement June 13, 2017. He is the best
